Alterations

When you are shopping for that perfect dress for your perfect day, it is very rare that you find the perfect fit.  A hefty additional fee will be applied for alterations from length change to taking in a corset.  If you have your heart set on a purchased retail dress, come to Amanda Catherine Custom Design for your couture alterations. Here you can be confident in the quality and service you may not receive anywhere else.

All special occasion alterations are welcome, including hemming. All exact undergarments should be worn during fitting to receive accurate alterations. Alteration fees are based on the complexity of alteration and type of fabrication.

* Please note that if your weight fluctuates from fitting to delivery it is not the responsibility of Amanda Catherine Custom Design to reimburse or make further alterations without an additional fee.

Lauren & Sloane’s Winter Wonderland

What a sparkling winter wedding! Lauren & Sloane came to me with both needing some changes, and alterations to their wedding gowns. Lauren’s off white gown needed some fit changes for comfort, shortening of straps, shortened hem, and a bustle. For Sloane’s wedding gown I removed the heavy petticoat, hemmed all 5 layers of the tulle skirt, re-fit the bustline, and used the leftover tulle to create a matching blush veil. I also completed minor fit changes to their beautiful wool jackets that kept them warm during their wedding photos. We managed to squeeze in some style alterations for Sloane’s mother’s MOB gown too along the way. So happy to be a part of their planning leading up to their special day!

Marybethe’s Winter Nantucket Wedding

It was a family affair of dress alterations. For the bride, I took in her illusion beaded bodice, shortened her many layer hem, and created a sculpture-like bustle for ample dancing. For her daughter’s dress, I created a custom plaid floor-length bow that snapped in place. Marybethe’s sister was in need of a few simple dress alterations to finish off the starry night evening!

Naomi’s Perfect Day

Naomi came to me with a purchased dress that needed a few alterations for her big day. I took in the sides to increase her beautiful hourglass shape, hemmed the many layers, bustled the train, added lace appliques to hide her zipper, and created a modern veil from her mother’s veil.

Meaghan, such a tiny thing! She brought me this beautiful lace dress looking for a hem shortening and a few small improvements. Stunning!

7 Months Pregnant? No Problem!

Added a side panel to allow growing room for mother-to-be, Sara. She knew she would be about 8 months pregnant for the wedding so she planned ahead. She requested extra georgette fabric for her purchased bridesmaid dress and we put a fitting on the calendar. I added a floor-length, side seam panel that included the ruched bodice detail. It worked out great!
